Venom had a great weekend in a tough Mike Miller Hoilday Tourney. Club teams finished 12-9 on the two days. 3 Teams had chances at Championships. 5th grade boys lost in the semifinals. The 6th grade girls lost in Finals, but made huge strides this weekend, the 8th Grade Boys took home a Championship with a win over the Network. So proud of all our teams for competing at such a high level this weekend. Both the 6th grade boys teams ended up being on the same side of the bracket and faced off Saturday AM, and although it is never an easy task to play a club opponent, these boys played each hard and clean, they wanted to win, but more importantly they wanted their buddies be succesful and in the end both sides ot better no matter what the score said. The 5th grade boys had a hugely successful weekend. Posted a 2-0 record on Friday making it to the semifinals where they lost a tough one by 1 in the game of the tourney to the TrailBlazers, then finished with a loss to Network. Sometimes things don’t go your way and you end up on the wrong side of some games, that was the scenario for the 7th grade boys this weekend. First they posted a win against Aberdeen in the opening round avenging an earlier season loss to the Eagles. Then let one get away in the second game to the Wizards 44-49. They finished up with a loss to Network finishing 1-2 in the toughest of the 7th grade pools. The 6th grade girls had a huge weekend making it to the finals where they fought hard against a very physical and talented Harrisburg Team only to fall short by 5 in a exciting game. These girls have come alon way since the start of the season and are getting better everytime on the court. Keep it up girls! The 8th grade boys continued their dominance on the 8th grade division rolling to another Championship following their impressive 55-49 win over rival SD Network. The 8th grade team has only 1 loss on the season and it came at the hands of the Network. Great job to all the teams this weekend. It’s back to the lab this weekend for more work on the formula to success, and the main ingredient is hard work! GO VENOM!!!!!
